Cheese Cake

This would be a prime opportunity to make a "cutting the cheese" joke, but I'm MUCH too sophisticated for that... right. This was for a wine & cheese themed bridal shower. The wine bottle is made of milk chocolate that I melted and poured into a 12'' mold. I used rolled fondant for the label and painted the names on with food coloring. It's attached to the bottle with a gumpaste/water mixture so the whole thing is edible. The cutting board is actually a piece of 1/2'' foam core covered with faux wood contact paper. It was super easy to make and much lighter and easier to transport than an actual wooden board.

10'' 3-layer vanilla yellow cake with strawberry jam filling, vanilla buttercream icing, and fondant.

  1. Sarah,

I love it! Wonderful work. I have just discovered a quick box cake recipe which produces a dense cake, perfect for tier and 3D cakes. It may come in handy sometime.

    1 box cake mix
    1 small pudding mix
    1 cup whole milk
    1 cup crisco oil
    4 large eggs
    Mix and bake at 325

  4. I lurve the way the presentation turned out. I only wish that I got to eat the wedge of cake that you cut out to make the cheese. That recipe sounds really amazing (love the strawberry jam).
